About Us...

Life is truly meant to be savoured and enjoyed ... not hurried along.

WHO are we? Good question and a tough one to answer … we tend to be private people and generally like it that way, but in today’s ‘social networking’ atmosphere privacy is increasingly rare. We thought about creating one of those nifty bio blurbs you see at the back of many book covers, but that just isn’t our style. So here are some basics: Jennifer and I have been happily together for well over thirty years! We are both university educated - and lingered long into the academic life more for the simple love of learning rather than the pompousness of academia; we both have enjoyed full-time careers as health care professionals … with an insatiable preference to be out sailing, adventure travelling, mountain hiking, gardening, or simply sauntering with our dog and exploring the world!

Our combined academic background is definitely eclectic and includes Pharmacy, Neuroscience, Nursing, Psychology, Genetics, Biochemistry and Health Law. Between us we have attended Queens University; Acadia University; University of British Columbia and our beloved Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

We are both proud introverts who intensely love reading a good book. Steve has co-founded and chaired several inventor’s groups, dabbled in numerous patent developments and thoroughly enjoys exploring innovative ideas, breakthrough science and new technologies. Jennifer is definitely the ‘health nut‘ in the family and intensely enjoys cooking gourmet foods and savouring a fine wine, particularly with a good book and cuddled beside our canine companion!

Our private company, Cranky Goat Publishing Ltd., is a small, innovative self-publishing venture company that challenges the way we see the world and the environment around us. The founding principle and driving force behind Cranky Goat Publishing Ltd. is to provide education and insight into world environmental concerns, explore beneficial technologies and disseminate the latest research in environmental and ecological science surreptitiously through our fiction and non-fiction publications — hopefully allowing for a broader and potentially more appealing medium of consumer engagement.

The ‘in your face” media awareness of global warming and incessant human greed has had little impact on our apathetic, consumer oriented society … so we are hoping a gentler, more discretionary tactic may prove to be enlightening and assist with raising greater awareness in an attempt to elucidate the trauma we have caused (and are continuing to cause) to Mother Earth and all the natural wonders she encompasses. The great Martin Luther King Jr. stated it best - "Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity".

Jennifer and I are both “environmentalists” from the perspective that environmentalism is a broad philosophy and social movement regarding ecological conservation and improvement to the overall state of our fragile planet.

VERY IMPORTANT: Release Dates for our books are unknown, even by us! Life keeps on interrupting us, and that is usually in a good way ... but expect our first major novel release sometime in 2017. Cranky Goat Publishing Ltd. is more of a fun project than a serious business, so we have no deadline pressures and very much wish to keep it that way!

"Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors; and the most patient of teachers."
~ Charles Eliot

Cranky Goat Publishing Ltd. embraces the principal of sustainable development, in which development meets the needs of the present without compromising the welfare of future generations. Cranky Goat Publishing Ltd. and, indeed, the entire homestead of Cranky Goat Cottage is committed to conducting its operations in a manner that minimizes environmental risk and adverse effects on the local ecology. We also ensure a pet friendly environment and strongly advocate adopting a lifelong companion from your local SPCA... we are blessed to be the dominant species on this fragile planet of ours, the very least we can do is offer a lifetime of caring and companionship to a few animals in need.
“We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals.”
